FAQs on Laser Ablation
What is Laser Ablation?
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) is a minimally-invasive, in-office procedure that uses a laser beam to treat vein disease. Local anesthesia is administered to the area of treatment, where the laser is then placed within the walls of the vein. EVLT is performed in our office and typically takes one hour.
How Does Laser Ablation Work?
During the procedure, the laser will heat the walls of the vein until it closes, allowing your body to reabsorb the vein. Once it is reabsorbed, blood flow is then rerouted to healthy veins throughout the body. Blood circulation improves rapidly right after laser ablation.
Does Laser Ablation Hurt?
Some patients may experience temporary soreness or numbness afterward. However, patients can resume normal activity within 24 hours of treatment.
How Much Does Laser Ablation Cost?
EVLT is usually covered by insurance. Star Veins & Aesthetics accepts most insurances, including Medicare. Contact us for questions about coverage.
