FAQs on Varithena
What is Varithena?
Varithena is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses a medicated foam to eliminate varicose veins. Only local anesthesia is required, and treatment typically takes one hour or less to complete.
How Does Varithena Work?
The vein doctor will numb the area to be treated and inject a small amount of foam using a catheter. This foam causes the vein to swell and close, allowing blood flow to be re-routed to healthy veins throughout the body.
Is Varithena Painful?
Patients may feel some pressure during the injection, and mild tenderness in their leg after the procedure. This tenderness will dissipate in about a week, and most patients are able to resume normal activity within 24 hours after the procedure is done.
How Much Does Varithena Cost?
Varithena is usually covered by insurance. Contact Star Veins & Aesthetics if you do not see your insurance carrier listed as one of our approved insurance plans. We accept most insurance providers, including Medicare.
